Parents and Guardians of school age children
of the Community of St Barnabas, North London
A N O P E N L E T T E R – I N V I T A T I O N
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Greek Schools of St Barnabas are blessed to be in operation continuously for the last forty-eight years. Within this long period they have been privileged to nurture the values of our people and the teachings of our Orthodox faith, to some thousands of children. Some of those children now bring their own children to school. This fills our soul with joy and it also gives us great pleasure as it confirms the good work which takes place at this ecclesiastical school.
Therefore, we extend an invitation to you to lead the children of your families and your circle to the Greek classes, to learn the Greek language and listen to the Word of God. Please remember that we all invest in the future. Through time some things get old and others wither. However, we take care that the young generation will be supplied with information and ideas which time will not wither and will prove useful in the life of the children.
You as families must insist on the regular attendance of your children to the GreekSchool, for this broadens their horizon, widens their knowledge and reveals additional dimensions of the life of man. The mastering of a second language is priceless. However, at the same time it cultivates and improves the intelligence of man on a large scale. The current economic conditions show that the future of man comes with extra demands. Only those who are prepared from an early age will succeed in the course of their life.
We await for you to come and register your children for the new school year 2012-2013. At the same time we will inform you that the Greek Schools of St Barnabas commence their lessons on Thursday, 6th September 2012 (week-days) and Saturday, 8th September 2012 (morning and afternoon). The School Governing Body, in order to facilitate the families to send their children to the Greek classes, have not increased the fees for the third year running. The blessing for the formal opening of the lessons will take place on Saturday, 15th September 2012 at 10.30 a.m. We trust that you will make arrangements to be with us on that day.
Best wishes and blessings in the Lord,
2nd August 2012
† Bishop Athanasios of Tropaeou
P.S. We would appreciate it if you could enrol your children as soon as possible.
